Want to know how to write wedding thank-you notes or bridal shower thank-you notes? The following provides examples and a framework for writing wedding gift thank-you cards.
Make Wedding Present Comments Detailed
Try to write more than, “I liked the book you sent.” Find out what the title is, skim the contents if there isn’t time to read it all, and/or talk about how both partners are looking forward to reading it. As well, if someone bought a name brand item like Gucci or KitchenAid, they would like it if the new couple noticed and made note of it in their thank-you card. For any wedding, but particularly large ones, it’s ideal to have someone who is taking notes on who gave what present while the bride and/or groom opens them. Either it can be done on one sheet of paper/computer screen or a description of the gift can be written on the back of the card that came with the gift.

People pick out wedding gifts to help out the new couple and so a thank-you note should talk about how that is the case. For example, “We love the new coffee grinder you gave us. We’ve been using it since the day we unwrapped it and I am enjoying a delicious fresh-ground cuppa as I write.” If the gift was money, write about what the money went toward. “Thank you so much for your generous gift. We really needed to get a new kitchen table and have used that money to get one. Every time we sit down to eat, we now have a lovely reminder of you and your family.”
Thank-You Note Should Have Personal Message
It’s also nice to write a little personal message to the guests. If they came from far away, thank them in the note for making the long trip. If the guests had a good time partying at the wedding, write about how impressive their dance skills were. Another idea is to talk about how much the newlyweds are looking forward to getting together soon.
Add a Quote to Thank-You Note
It can also be a nice touch to add a quote about love and marriage in the thank-you card. This can also be helpful if the newlyweds want to write quick cards because the quote will take up space and they won’t have to think of as much to write on the rest of the card. When writing wedding thank-you notes make sure to be detailed in describing the gift, be specific about how the gift is useful or lovely, write a few lines about the guests attendance and participation at the wedding and perhaps add a loving quote about marriage.
